Ukraine and Russia are simplifying border
Ukraine and Russia will expand the network of border crossing points. As reported by the Information Policy Department of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine, on October 20-21 inter-agency consultations had been held on the functioning of border crossing points on the Ukrainian-Russian state border at the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine.
Bilateral consultations were a continuation of the agreements reached by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and president of the Russian Federation Dmitrii Medvedev on the subsequent development of border cooperation, which had been announced by the heads of both countries during a meeting in Glukhov on September 17 and in Gelendzhik, on October 4, UNIAN cites the Foreign Ministry as saying.
The parties accommodated recommendations for the development of border crossing points, synchronizing their work and increase in through-flow rates. During the consultations, the parties considered a number of measures directed at simplifying the procedure for crossing the Ukrainian-Russian state border by residents of border territories of Ukraine and the Russian Federation, and also the parties accommodated the expedience of signing an intergovernmental Agreement on cooperation and information exchange in the field of arrangement of border crossing points. Following the consultations, the bilateral protocol was signed and the parties reached an agreement to meet again in Moscow in November.
