Phone communications to grow in price by 15%
Tariffs for local phone communications this year will grow by 15%, Head of the National Communications Regulatory Commission Volodymyr Oliynyk has reported.
"It is because we cannot prevent a sharp increase in tariffs for this social type of services. There are no compensatory mechanisms in Ukraine, such as the creation of a universal services fund," he said.
It is planned to approve the tariff increase scheme at the next meeting of the commission. Oliynyk said he did not exclude that the tariffs would first grow by 10% and in a few month by another 5%.
The National Communications Regulatory Commission last raise tariffs for the use of local communications in February 2009. Then the commission approved a draft of new maximum tariffs for public telecommunications services. The draft proposed increasing the size of a subscription fee for the use of phones by 10-20%.
For legal entities, as well as in villages and towns for all categories of users, the subscription fee rose by 10%. UKRINFORM
